Prairie Schooner

Prairie Schooner is national literary quarterly published since 1926 with the support of the Department of English of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Press. The magazine is home to the best fiction, poetry, essays and reviews being published by authors at all stages of their careers. Work that has appeared in Prairie Schooner has been collected in the Pushcart and Best American series and has won numerous other awards.
Prairie Schooner Book Prize ($3000)A yearly contest for a collection of short fiction and a book of poems. An award of three thousand dollars and publication by the University of Nebraska Press goes to each winner. The runner up in each genre receives one thousand dollars.
